“It was really hard to get involved being a first-generation college student.

What kept me here was the Center for Black Studies, for sure. I would say this feels like a second home to me. It definitely connected me to different resources that I didn't know I had available as a student, such as tutoring. Becoming a member of the Black Male Initiative kept me involved in school too.”

be open-minded

There's so many different people who have so many different experiences and you can learn from those experiences as well too. Being open to other's experiences and accepting their experience and the differences as well too.”

“My hobbies consist of poetry. I write and I read a lot and I’m a sports person. I watch a lot of sports, such as basketball and football. I also played all of these sports a lot as a kid. Poetry is definitely one of the things I just held onto and still do now.”
